A Word from the Music and Services Director
Two of my favorite scriptures are found in the 33rd chapter of the book of Psalms.
In verses two and three we read, “Praise the Lord with the harp. Sing unto Him with
the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto Him a new song. Play skillfully
with a loud noise.”
The Lord has commanded us to praise Him through the medium of music. What a joy it
is to stand in His presence week after week and serve with the talents He has so
generously given to us. But, did you notice He said to play skillfully. Our Lord
deserves the very best we can offer. Why should we offer anything less when the
world is giving the enemy their best? It would be my pleasure to meet with you and
assist you with your desire to become a member of our music ministry. Janie Kaminski
The adult choir of Westside Baptist is comprised of auditioned singers. To be involved in the special music of this church and this choir, a musician must be an active layman
in the music ministry and faithful to the services.
One of the important aspects of choir membership is attendance. A full choir loft is evidence that choir members take their job seriously and that they are excited about singing for the Lord. Regular attendance at rehearsals is vital to the preparation of the weekly choir specials. If for any reason you must miss a rehearsal or service, please contact the choir secretary. If a member is absent for two consecutive rehearsals, he/she may not sing in the Sunday service following the second rehearsal missed. Ask yourself: Am I wanting to be a portrait of God’s Glory? Do I have a servants heart? Is it a privilege to serve the Lord? Do I want excellence?

week before their presentation. The purpose of sound checks is to give the sound technician an opportunity to balance the music, mics, and presenter so that the congregation can hear clearly the message being played or sung.
Sound checks are done each Sunday morning and evening for the specials presented that day. Times are given to each group or individuals the
The orchestra is a place where those that have been given an instrumental talent can use it to glorify our Savior. Some of you may not have picked up your
instrument since high school. It’s time to dust it off, start practicing, and come and see our director about joining the group.
Do you like to solo or play in a small ensemble? There are many opportunities for instrumentalists to play pieces for offertories or specials for Sunday services, special programs like Christmas, Easter, or other holidays. If you are interested in any of these areas, please come and see me.
The opportunity to sing a solo, duet, or sing in an ensemble is another aspect of the music ministry here at Westside. If you are interested in these areas, please let me know.
